       Sept 4 2003 Stop!
There are a few lines more for the English-speaking wievers of our homesite
        - an article by Marianne Rohrlich on a very special house in Sweden. Before you read the article, we would like to give you some important facts that never really came clear in the article. This
house was originally a small wood house from the early 1900´s with rudiments
of the National Romantic style of the time and a great need for reconstruction.
We designed the new parts of the building (almost two thirds of the volume)
as a paraphrase of what was created by Swedish architects one hundred
years ago – we used the main shape of the old building with its typical
second floor-overhang and then we added viking-inspired ornaments, windows,
dragon motifs and other new-invented “viking-style” details etc to the
exterior just as the architects did 100 years ago. The interior is a mix between architectural “translations” from the buildings exterior, the architects visions and the owners own lust for amenities and decor, formed by their own experiences from twenty years of living and working in the United States. |
    About us Greitz
Architects is a small Swedish architect bureau with a staff that has a
broad range of competence - from urban planning to interior design, from
reconstruction of old traditional housing to indepent modernism, from
large multi-storey housing projects to cottages by the waterfront.  We
mainly work with projects in the Baltic Sea region, but are wide-open
for challenges in other parts of the world.  Our homesite is right now only available in Swedish, but we hope that our drawings and our archive photos can give you an idea of our way of working. We will be happy to answer questions – call us or e-mail us.
